Varying camera models use different firmware files. The camera model is listed in the file name of the firmware update file. DN model cameras and non DN cameras typically do not use the same firmware file for older cameras. Newly released camera models combine both DN and non DN models in to the same file. To find the latest firmware release for your camera, please login on the main Arecont Vision web page to see our firmware download section located at http://www.arecontvision.com/firmwares.php.

If you are unsure as to which model of camera you are using, you can access the camera's web interface by typing its current IP address in your web browser. Click on System or About to locate the camera's model and current firmware revision.

There are two methods to update firmware on an Arecont camera:
  1. Use the standalone update utility. Download the firmware loader utility or New AV IP utility (will only work with the current generation of the cameras) located on the firmware download page or software download. Once in the utility, click on Find Cameras or Discover Broadcast to scan locally for any cameras. Once your camera is detected, checkmark the square to the left of the camera's IP address, then click on Upgrade Firmware or Update Camera. Select the firmware file which was downloaded from the firmware download page and click OK. Allow the firmware update process to complete and you will see a Success message along with the camera now displaying the new firmware revision.

Note: Cameras may not detect if they are located on different network from the PC is using or if the Windows Firewall or any anti-virus softwares is currently enabled.

  2. For Single Sensor Cameras or Panoramic cameras that running firmware 65191 or above, Use the embedded web interface of the camera. Under the Administration tab or System tab, locate the Firmware upgrade section. Click on Browse to select the firmware file to be loaded on the camera and click Open. Finally, click Upgrade to start the process. It will take about 2 minutes to go thru the upgrade process. Once completed, the new firmware file can be verified by re-accessing the camera's web interface and clicking on About or System.

Note: Panoramic cameras and cameras running older firmware revisions must use the firmware loader utility from option 1.
Cameras should be isolated from the rest of the network to prevent connection attempts during the update process. Any attempt to stream video or access the camera's web inteface may result in a failed firmware update. If isolation is not possible, disable the camera's recording feed and live video in any 3rd party software or disable the software temporarily while updating.
